Join us next Tuesday when we start with a look at our first subject, business models. In the wake of auto industry shake ups like those rocking General Motors, Chrysler, GM Europe, Opel, and the automotive sector as a whole, we explore the importance of business models built for an ever-changing world, ones that must be flexible enough to adapt if conditions change.

Are you excited? We are. We want to deliver the aboslute best content to you on entrepreneurship and small business. Come back to this spot Tuesday, June 8, as we do just that!

The Monday Group: GM A-Go-Go? Or, General Microsoft vs. Open Opel

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/atY2m)
Hi! Here's hoping you had a wonderful weekend, full of the type of joy and merriment only a post-apocalyptic, war-vs.-the-machines-ravaged future and an unlikely, yet highly foreseeable, NBA Playoffs upset can bring.

What about us? We've been in the lab concocting the type of dynamic small business solutions that will revolutionize the world. More on that in a second.

First, I'd like to relate a conversation with a bank teller. The specifics are not the point, but the very-salient gist was this: the bankruptcy of General Motors may not be the saving grace most of the principle players (i.e., the federal government and auto industry execs inside and outside the company) would like to cast it to be. For the record, I hold to the belief that this bankruptcy reorganization, while devastatingly painful in the short-term, was likely the only viable option for a company that persisted in remaining a bloated whale while its overseas competition was busy becoming a school of cunning, hungry sharks.

I told the teller I thought so, but she contended that the opportunity was there for GM to receive the help it may have needed to pull out of its high-velocity descent if the loan assistance it received from the federal government had been structured differently. She also believed that the share of ownership government now holds in the company will not only be detrimental for GM's long-term prospects, but has the potential to lead to the end of the UAW. Overall, she doesn't think that the current administration's "on paper" support for labor will protect it, and that after this administration departs, the United Auto Workers won't be far behind.

I don't hold quite so fatalistic a viewpoint. I think there will be some industry-wide change, and there needs to be, but my hope is that the greatest alterations will take place in terms of the American automotive business model. The old days of redundant products with insignificant periodic updates that underwhelm more consumers than they attract should be permanently retired - and when we're done fixing Microsoft, maybe we can give GM a try, too. Maybe this will be the impetus that Detroit needs in order to realize that we don't need three versions of the exact same car with different words on the back, and we certainly don't need them to come out every year. Oh, and we know who killed the electric car. Why don't we stop doing that?

These lessons may ultimately be absorbed by GM's smaller cousins GM Europe and Opel. Saved at the wire by a deal with the German government, these two, now with less U.S. ownership may ultimately find themselves in position to change the game on a smaller scale. Future plans for the companies remain unknown, and it's a probably a bit premature to declare a beginning to the era of a large-scale Open Automotive movement ... but, let's face it: you and your buddies could probably build a better ride than the Edsel. Heck, all it really takes to change the industry is a man and his dream.

One thing that we do know the future holds is a great deal for those of you who need to advertise online. Are there any hands not raised out there? Do you know telepathy? If not, then consider yourself one who does. And this is your day, because we've cooked up something awesome.

Right now, we're offering you 100,000 ads on Google, Facebook, and our network of associated sites for only $99. That's 99 bucks for a block of 100,000 advertisements. Yes, your eyes are working.

What good is traffic, if your site's visitors aren't going to take the actions you want? That's absolutely crucial because every penny you spend on advertising is critically important. With this program, however, you don't need to have an ad written or designed; our professional copy writers will mold your messages into succinct, concise, effective ads that will engage audiences across the Web and help you achieve your online goals.

How do you get started? Glad you asked. Just do one of the following, and we'll get started making your site goals come true with a truly unique service at a price you can't beat:
